If you are looking for authentic Cantonese cuisine in Kuala Lumpur, there is no other restaurant serves tasty and quality Cantonese cuisine like Li Yen Restaurant. In Li Yen Restausant, you may experience yourself in a restaurant in Hong Kong, which friendly staff will speak to you in Cantonese, while feeling the vibe of the restaurant in the beautiful atmosphere.
The Must Eat Dish in Li Yen is the Peking Duck, in which the duck was roasted until the skin is crispy. The waitress will serve the Peking duck and thinly slice the skin of the Peking Duck and wrap it in a thin pastry (similar to a popiah skin) and serve it together with some picked cucmbers and carrots with some spring onions, and the combination of all the flavours worked so well together bursting out with differernt flavours of each condiments. By far it is one of the best Peking duck we have ever tasted.
The next dish was a double-boiled black mushroom herbal soup. The dish is so simple yet shocking when you have a spoon of it, to my surprise the soup is actually sweet and has a fragrant from the mushrooms.
The Wok-fried Prawns with Truffle Sauce was the highlight of the meal. The prawns were fresh and had a crunchy feeling when you chew it. The fried prawns were then served with truffle sauce which was a surprise to the tastebuts! It was different yet very pleasing.
Remember the Peking duck, we only ate the skin of the duck for the first dish, the remaining of the duck meat was cooked with stir fry noodles and vegetables (Left Picture). Lastly, its dessert time! In Chinese, we call this Nian Gao which can be translated to New Year Cake. For this dish, the Nian Gao is cut into a thin slice alongside with the sweet potato and yam and deep fried. When the Nian Gao is fried, it will melt and turn to a sort of mochi texture, a perfect way to end the dinner.
